Everyone knows about 'The Slot' in Anza-Borrego, but I'd heard rumors of other, quieter canyons. It took some searching, but finding this one felt like a real discovery. The air inside was immediately cooler, a welcome relief from the desert sun. The silence was the first thing I noticed, broken only by the soft crunch of my boots on the sandy floor. I could feel the fine grit of the walls just by looking at them. My eye was drawn down the winding path, toward that sliver of orange light that seemed to pull me forward.
