Ephemeral

After years of intense drought, the desert southwest was inundated with rains that caused widespread flooding this summer. Sadly, this is our new normal. Climate change is causing extremes in weather patterns, which will only become more pronounced in the coming years. A beautiful canyon we used to visit to find oils in the desert is now buried in five feet of sand and debris from this flood. The wash from this canyon was filled with miles of beautiful sandy mud patterns, at least for a brief moment in time. These ephemeral mud patterns are a result of those extremes.
